Overseeing the operations of a mental hospital isn't the easiest job in the world especially for someone like Dr. Riley who has been known to stress out easily. Dr. Riley is a control freak in a place that is out of control. He is a stern workaholic who spends the majority of his time in his office knee deep in administrative hoopla. He has a real passion for crunching numbers and alphabetizing and has quite an impressive collection of shoehorns which he displays proudly above his desk.

Dr. Riley tends to avoid interacting with patients whenever possible. This may be due to a lack of sympathy, understanding or possibly an underlying fear that he is not so different from them, teetering on the brink of insanity on a daily basis.
